Generations with a passion for the craft

Since 1919, the Jacobs family has been producing high-quality doors and kitchens. Thanks to their years of expertise, quality, customer support and advice, finishing, and wide range of products, Jacobs interior doors stands out with its custom-made interior doors. The third generation continuously innovates to expand their offerings based on customer needs. Their showroom displays more than 150 doors: from timeless solid wood and elegant veneer to cottage-style lacquered doors, invisible sleek designs, and steel and glass models.

All of their work is done in-house, even solid wood doors are made from scratch at Jacobs interior doors. “Our products come in as trees and leave as doors,” says managing director Bart Jacobs. “In the past, we outsourced our specific painting work. Recently, we installed a new spray booth from Sima, which allows us to complete everything ourselves, from start to finish.”

Sima spray booth tailored to woodworking

Sima offers tailored solutions for everyone with its extensive range of spray booths suitable for various applications. “We chose a closed spray booth with a ramp, allowing us to drive carts and drying racks inside,” explains Bart. “Thanks to the closing doors, wood dust from the workshop doesn’t come into contact with the freshly painted doors. In fact, we can even sand just outside the booth.” The spray booth is divided into a spray area with optimal air extraction and a drying area with shelves, allowing painted pieces to dry easily inside the booth. Next to the spray booth, there is a covered laboratory where the paint and colors are mixed. “The smell of the paint is less noticeable because the air is extracted here too. This creates a pleasant and healthy work environment,” says Jacobs, satisfied.

Optimized airflow and quick service

Additionally, Sima’s spray booth promotes energy-efficient operation. “After about ten minutes without spraying, the booth automatically switches to a closed air circulation mode. As soon as the spray gun is picked up again, everything turns back on.” The booth is also equipped with a four-layer film. “When the spray booth gets too dirty, we can simply peel off one layer, keeping the booth clean and optimal for perfect finishes.”

“Unlike our other spray booth, the air in Sima’s booth is extracted not only through the floor but also via a side panel. Thanks to this optimized airflow, the recurring spray mist on the lower part of our pieces is significantly reduced. This ensures a more precise and time-saving finish,” Bart explains.

Installation and collaboration with Sima

For this Sima spray booth, two chimneys were installed on the roof. On one side, air is drawn in, pre-filtered, and heated to the desired spraying temperature. Diagonal ventilation blows the air into the booth, while the overspray is extracted through the spray wall and grated floor. This extraction system has a double filter and complies with the strictest regulations regarding dust emissions. The installation of the spray booth went very smoothly. “We are very satisfied with the quality and service from Sima. I didn’t expect the spray booth to be installed so quickly. Communication has been excellent, and Sima is also taking over the maintenance of our other spray booth,” says Jacobs interior doors.
